Iraklis land Smaragdis, draw Aris in Cup

The tie between Iraklis and Aris stands out as the most attractive after the draw for the quarterfinals of the Greek Cup on Thursday.
The knock-out tie between the two Thessaloniki rivals, whose clash last season in the league had delayed the play-offs for weeks due to fan action during their game at Iraklis, will take place on February 16.
On the same date holders Panathinaikos
will visit ambitious Lamia, champions Olympiakos will play at Panellinios and Kifissia will host PAOK.
The final will take place at Orestiada, northeastern Greece, on March 19.
Meanwhile, Greece blocker Nikos Smaragdis, who had ended his contract with Panathinaikos and was without a club, agreed to return to Iraklis for the next year and a half.
Smaragdis also had a proposal from Olympiakos, but opted to go back to Iraklis where he was crowned Greek champion in 2007 and 2008.
