Olympiakos thrashed Aris on Sunday to return to the top of the A1 table after 24 hours that they were behind Panathinaikos, while Maroussi consolidated themselves at the third spot. Aris troubled Olympiakos for no more than 15 minutes at the Peace and Friendship Stadium. With the score at 27-27, Olympiakos decided to up their pace and finished the
first half leading 44-33.
The second half was particularly one-sided as Olympiakos were led by an impressive Loukas Mavrokefalidis (13 points) and a solid Yiannis Bouroussis (16 p.) in the front line.
Olympiakos now have 28 points from 14 games, one more point than Panathinaikos.
Maroussi are third with 23 points, two points ahead of the chasing pack of six teams, thanks to their 68-59 home win over Panionios.
Experienced coach Vangelis Alexandris beat his opposite number, Giorgos Bartzokas, the former Maroussi coach, thanks to a late surge for the hosts that saw them register a partial 10-1 score in the last few minutes.
Yiannis Gagaloudis scored 13 points for Maroussi, while Manolis Batis's 20 points were not enough for Panionios.
