Greek Fourlis to build EUR 51m mall in Sofia

Representatives of Greek retailer Fourlis (ATH:FOYRK), the franchisee of IKEA for Greece, Cyprus and Bulgaria, have met Bulgarian PM Boiko Borisov to discuss the launch of a BGN-100-million (USD 71m/EUR 51m) shopping centre in
Sofia, daily Dnevnik reports.

The construction of the mall, dubbed South Ring Mall Sofia, will start in June 2011.

The retail centre, expected to be the largest one in Bulgaria, will be developed on an area spanning 180,000 square metres (1.9 million sq ft).

Originally, the site and the project were under the control of Greek container shipping group Danaos Development, but later they were transferred to the South Ring Mall Sofia company, which is in turn owned by a Cyprus-registered entity.
