Aris shot themselves in the foot on Tuesday evening as they threw away an 18-point lead to lose by two to Goettingen at home for the Eurocup, amid jeering from their own fans.
The 82-84 result leaves Aris with just one win in out of three games, and with two of the three matches left to
be played out of Greece, the Thessaloniki side stand little chance of making the knock-out stages of Europe's second-tier competition. The players of coach Sharon Drucker were on top for most of the match at the Alexandrio court and eight minutes from time they led comfortably 70-52.
That was when the Germans shut their hosts out and ran a partial 19-0 score and made the most of the free throws they got in the last few minutes, unlike Aris to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
Drucker was once against the main target of Aris fans' jeering. The calls for his sacking grew louder.
After the game Drucker said it was understandable for supporters to protest in the end: "Fans are disappointed. I realize they do what they can to help their team. We need to forget this match, we have crucial games ahead and after the derby with PAOK we need to win all remaining games in the Eurocup," the Israeli coach stated.
