Canoe Kayak Sports and Fun Days 2011

“Hellinikon Entertainment and Sport Parks S.A.” organises for
the third consecutive year the event “Canoe Kayak Sports and Fun Days 2011”, from February 28th until April 17th 2011.










The organisation is under the auspice of Hellenic Canoe Kayak Federation and its parallel events are:


• European Training Slalom Camp / 28.02 - 27.03


• Educational / recreational school visits / 28.02 - 24.03


• White Water Activities: Rafting, Inflatable Boats, Kayak / 28.02 - 17.04


• The venue is open to public for participating in White Water activities on specific weekends (as per time schedule).


• The 13th Pan-Hellenic Canoe Kayak Slalom Championship / 26 - 27.03


 
RAFTING




Rafting is a thrilling and challenging group outdoor activity using an inflatable raft to navigate a river or special formed natural or artificial whitewater courses.






Join in a rafting activity in the wildest river of Athens! Live the experience of an aquatic adventure at the best Canoe Kayak Slalom Olympic Venue. The twenty- minute introductory lesson will prepare you to enjoy the five (5) descents in the Olympic course!






Third class (III WW) of white water in a controlled and safe environment!!






Prerequisites for Participation:


(1) Be at least 12 year old (parent’s affirmation is required for teens under 18 years old)


(2) Free swimming skills






Duration:


One (1) hour (from the beginning of the introductory course)






Description of the activity:


• Arrival at the venue 60 minutes prior to the start time of the activity.


• Introduction with the instructor, and collection of the necessary equipment for the activity.


• Wearing the special equipment in the changing rooms of the facility, locking also any personal belongings in the individual lockers.


• Once all the crew of a boat (6-8 participants) is ready, a 20-minute introductory course begins out of and into the water.


• It’s time for the five descents in the Olympic course!


• Once the thrilling activity is over, relaxing by taking a hot shower, changing and returning the equipment.






The activity includes:


• Introductory lesson


• Rafting in the Canoe-Kayak Slalom Olympic course


• Full equipment for the activity


• Experienced raft guides, certified by the International Rafting Federation, and the American Rescue Organisation “Rescue 3 International”


• Life insurance coverage for the activity


• Showers and changing rooms facilities


INFLATABLE BOATS (ONE – TWO SEATS)




The inflatable boat (one-two seats) is an exciting activity for one or two persons to navigate a river or special formed natural or artificial whitewater courses.






After a brief introductory lesson from an experienced raft guide, you will take control of the situation and navigate your raft in the warm up course! Descend as many times as you can, choose different paths, clock your routes and improve your techniques, having the support of your raft guide!






Second Class (II WW) of white water in a controlled and safe environment!!






Prerequisites for participation:


(1) Be at least 12 year old (parent’s affirmation is required for teens under 18 years old)


(2) Free swimming skills






Duration:


One (1) hour (from the beginning of the introductory course)






Description of the activity:

• In the beginning of the activity, a brief introductory lesson takes place out of and into the water.

• Once the thrilling activity is over, relaxing by taking a hot shower, changing and returning the equipment.

• One or two seated inflatable raft


• Full equipment for the activity


• Experienced raft guides, certified by the International Rafting Federation, and the American Rescue Organisation “Rescue 3 International”


• Life insurance coverage for the activity


• Showers and changing rooms facilities


KAYAK




Α. Beginners Kayak Course


Using the most updated training methods, the participants of the course will acquire the basic knowledge and skills for the paddling of the kayak, so that on the last day they will be able to descend safely the warm up course.






Prerequisites for Participation:


(1) Be at least 14 year old


(2) Free swimming skills






Program and duration:


• Practice: 18 hours


• Theory: 2 hours






The course includes:


• Equipment required for the course


• Experienced raft guides, certified by the International Rafting Federation, and the American Rescue Organisation “Rescue 3 International”


• Life insurance coverage for the duration of the course


• Showers and changing rooms facilities


• Beginners Kayak Course Certificate














Β. Usage of course for individual kayak activity


By using their own equipment, the experienced kayakers will enjoy the paddling in the Canoe Kayak Slalom Olympic course, the warm up course and the warm up lake.






Regarding the individual kayak activity, the participation of at least 16 persons is required for the course to run. Otherwise, the Secretariat of the event will immediately inform you about any program changes.
