Stocks end moderately up

Stocks ended moderately higher at the
Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday, following a similar trend in international markets. The composite index rose 0.68 percent up to end at 1,580.67 points, but off the day’s highs of 1,596.40 points. Turnover, however, remained a low 99.126 million euros. 
The Big Cap index rose 0.87 percent, the Mid Cap index ended 0.20 percent higher and the Small Cap index rose 0.74 percent. Titan (6.76  percent), ATEbank (5.33  percent), Ellaktor (4.72 percent) and Cyprus Bank (4.58 percent) were top gainers among blue chip stocks, while PPC (2.82  percent), Jumbo (2.23 percent) and Marfin Popular Bank (2.13 percent) were top losers. 
The Construction (5.14 percent) and Telecommunications (3.75 percent) sectors scored the biggest percentage gains of the day, while Utilities (2.03 percent) and Personal Products (1.62 percent) suffered losses. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 89 to 61 with another 58 issues unchanged. Technical Publications (18.92 percent), Maillis (12.5 percent) and Mevaco (10 percent) were top gainers, while Sprider Stores (16.67  percent), Spider (13.64 percent) and Alter (8.16 percent) were top losers.
