The ruling Pasok Parliamentary group will submit a proposal to set up a preliminary examination committee to investigate money-laundering allegations included in the case file of sub-standard German-made submarines purchased by the Hellenic Navy when Akis Tsohatzopoulos was minister of defence, it was announced on Monday.
The decision was reached after studying the relevant case file forwarded to Parliament by the prosecutor's office. The process to be followed will ensure quickly and effectively that those responsible will be brought to justice, according to a statement issued by the Pasok parliamentary group.
The proposal will be submitted within the next few days followed by a parliamentary vote after the Easter holidays.
All other aspects of the submarine case have already been discussed extensively in the Special Standing Committee on Armament Programs and Contracts.
