German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said on Friday that Anglo-Saxon media are responsible for the confusion about Germany’s attitude to the Greek debt, according to Dow Jones Newswires.
Wolfgang Schaeuble stated that his comments in an interview published on Thursday by German newspaper Die Welt had been misrepresented by English-language media to mean that the country would push for an early restructuring of Greek debt.
However, he declined to give a more direct answer to the question of whether the German government would urge a restructuring.
He repeated that the sustainability of Greek debt is required to be reviewed every three month and that the next review is due in June, according to Memorandum of Understanding signed last May.
