Ernesto Valverde will be Olympiakos's manager for at least one more season, following his meeting with club president Vangelis Marinakis on Thursday in Piraeus.
The Spanish coach, who led Olympiakos to its last two league titles in 2009 and this season, spoke with Marinakis for two hours in the presence of his agent and reached an agreement fairly quickly, according to reports.
The two parties also discussed the club's transfer policy this summer, with Valverde reportedly asking for at least three midfielders and a goalkeeper to join Olympiakos.
Valverde made no statements upon leaving the meeting, while his agent stayed on to sort out the details of the coach's new contract.
The Spaniard had a contract until 2012, but reports had suggested he was considering a return to his homeland for family reasons. He has just returned from a short trip to Spain and it appears this was when he made his decision to stay on at Olympiakos for one more season.
Earlier in the day Olympiakos players had publicly expressed their desire to see Valverde remain on the team's bench for another year.
