A moderate earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale was recorded at 2:27 a.m. Thursday, at a distance of 228 km west of Athens, with its epicentre in the sea region off Kyllini, southwestern Greece.
According to the Geodynamic Institute of the Athens Observatory, the quake had a shallow epicentral depth of 15-20 km and thus was strongly felt in the wider area.
No injuries or damages were immediately reported.
