Basketball: Athinaikos women stroll to another title

Formidable Athinaikos have made it three titles in a row in women's basketball, after defeating FEA 68-52 in the final of the league playoffs
on Thursday.
The Vyronas club, which have built its own empire in the domestic game and even won last season's Eurocup, needed just one win in the final series against the team from Nea Philadelphia, eastern Athens, having already chalked up two victories in the regular season.
Coach Yiannis Ktistakis’s players had no problem sealing their triumph on the night, dominating play from the start to ease to a 16-point win in the end, with 23 points scored in the last period alone.
Athinaikos managed to win the title without once getting beaten, completing a run of 74 league matches in which it has gone undefeated.
It now remains to be seen whether the club's finances will allow Athinaikos to represent Greece in next season's Eurocup.
