Delegation of Chinese journalists briefed on Greek tourism

Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister Yiorgos Nikitiadis on Tuesday received a delegation of eight Chinese journalists sent by the Chinese union of journalists and briefed them on Greece's tourism sector, stressing the potential for investments.
In his meeting with journalists from China's major broadcast media and news agencies, Nikitiadis emphasised Greece's strong interest in increasing tourist traffic between the two countries and the new targeted strategy adopted by the Greek government in the tourism sector, in which there is apparent interest in countries such as China.
Nikitiadis informed them of government initiatives to simplify the process of investing in Greece, noting that this offered significant opportunities for development to potential investors. For the tourism sector, in particular, the minister said that "a series of initiatives is underway for the exploitation of camping sites and other real estate of interest for tourism that will be put up for auction"
The minister also announced his intention to brief Chinese government officials and tourism sector agencies on the government's actions to strengthen ties between the two countries in the tourism sector, during an upcoming trip to China.
The Chinese journalists noted the lively interest within China both for investments but also for visiting Greece, underlining the importance of promoting Greek culture and tourism in China and the preference shown by the Chinese in Greece' archaeological wealth and the large variety of tourism destinations.
