Paxi - Antipaxi, The Ionian islands

Voutoumi

Paxi is the smallest but one of the most beautiful Greek islands in the Ionian Sea. It is located in the south of Corfu. It has a lively port and main town, but the rest is in general untouched by industry, although it has seen much popularity since the '60s.

The famous beaches, the villages and the green hills full of olive groves remain the same as they were centuries ago. The scenic cliffs and magical sea caves offer an unspoiled environment that is hard to find.

Gaios

The capital Gaios at the east side of the island is a a picturesque village with traditional houses and narrow streets. At the nourth lies the seaside village of Laka which is build on a bay whose coasts are covered with olives and pines. Paxi is a peaceful and quiet island ideal for relaxing vacations.

Antipaxi is a small island situated 3 nautical miles southeast of Paxi. It has a population of 120 inhabitants, and its extension is 5 square km, where grapevines and orchards grow. There are also some resort settlements there, near the wonderful sandy beaches of Voutoumi, Vrika and Agrapidia. The island's transport is run by fishing-boats which connect the island with Paxi and Corfu, especially during the summer.
