Wild Animals Have a Home!

Injured, poisoned or orphaned wild animals from all over Greece may find shelter at the Hellenic Wildlife Hospital (HWH) which is located on the island of Aegina. Operating since 1984, the HWH is the oldest and largest wildlife r
ehabilitation center in Southern Europe, dedicated to the treatment and rehabilitation of all species of wildlife indigenous to Greece as well as to educating and informing the public on wildlife protection issues and taking preventive action.

HWH treats between 3,000 and 4,500 wild animals every year and then release them back to nature. The HWH is a member of theInternational Wildlife Rehabilitation Council and in 1992 was granted the Athens Academy Award in recognition of its contribution to wildlife protection in Greece.
