Members of the audience will be given the opportunity to pose their own questions to Prime Minister George Papandreou on Thursday morning, during an interview with an innovative format to be hosted by the state radio channel NET.
The idea was thought up by the government's communications team and will allow members of the audience to set the questions for the interview, which they are already starting to e-mail to the station from today, instead of the usual journalists.
These questions will then be read out by the programme presenter and the interview will also be distributed in written form.
Organisers of the programme said that there was already a very strong response from the public, with more than 1000 questions sent in by Tuesday afternoon. These will then be grouped and assessed in order to choose the "toughest and most representative", while organisers are also considering releasing all the questions sent in so that there are no doubts concerning the process.
