48-hour strike on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 28-29 - Updated


















Greece’s largest unions GSSE and ADEDY have called for a 48-hour general strike next week. The strike is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, June 28 and 29 to coincide with the Parliamentary debate and vote on the government’s latest austerity package.


Air Traffic controllers to strike between 8.00 to 12.00 and 18.00 to 22.00 on both days
Cancellation or delay of flights to/from Greece



Tax offices, Customs offices, Courthouses and all public sector offices closed

State hospitals to take emergency cases only


 Archaeological sites and museums closed


Athens Electric rail (ISAP) on 48-hour strike


Athens tram on 48-hour strike


 Athens trolleys on 48-hour strike
apart from a limited service for people taking part or attending the Special Olympics

Athens metro on 24-hour strike on Tuesday
Wednesday: closed from start of shift until 16.00


Athens buses on 48-hour strike - except for lines serving the Special Olympics




Rail services (including the Athens suburban railway - Proastiakos) will be suspended for 48 hours
(Proastiakos: there will be services for the Special Olympics only)
Metro trains will not run to Athens International Airport
Buses will not run to the airport

Ferries to be disrupted on Wednesday (24-hour merchant union strike)
Dock workers on 48-hour strike to affect ports across the country


Thessaloniki transport will work from 8.00 to 21.00 both days

Journalists to strike 11.00 to 15.00 both days


Pharmacies closed 8.30-14.30 on Wednesday
