Construction production in Greece declined for the eleventh quarter in a row in the first quarter, data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority revealed Tuesday.
Construction output fell 16.8 percent year-on-year in the first quarter, slower than the 31.6 percent decline recorded in the fourth quarter. Production decreased for the eleventh consecutive quarter.
Output of building construction dropped 27.3 percent during the quarter, after falling 38.1 percent in the previous quarter. Civil engineering construction output decreased 9.8 percent, following fourth quarter's 28 percent decrease.
Sequentially, construction production declined 28.4 percent in the first quarter, reversing the 26.3 percent increase seen in the fourth quarter. Output of building construction and civil engineering construction fell by 8.8 percent and 35.8 percent, respectively.
