Greek lawmakers face judgement day on debt drama




















The Greek parliament opens debate on Monday on five years of drastic cuts, tax rises and state sell-offs to obtain EU-IMF funds and so save the country from ruin and the eurozone from shock waves.


Socialist Prime Minister George Papandreou, expected to address lawmakers late in the evening, has a five-seat majority in the Athens assembly -- and looks able to whip through reforms despite a powerful mix of protesters.
