The seaside town of Parga, located 60 kilometers northwest of Preveza, keeps its profile of the Venetian era. We visit its fortress, constructed by the Normans in the 14th century with additions having been made to it at a latter time by the Turks and the Venetians.
We also visit the old church of Agii Apostoli and the monument of the people of Parga, the gallery of an artist inspired by the blue colors of the Ionian Sea and the green of the olive trees. We finally visit the old Monastery of Vlacherna at the entrance of Valtos Bay with the characteristic heptanesian bell tower. (visitgreece.gr)We sail with captain Giannis to the southern and the northern beaches in the vicinity of Parga. They include Lihno, Pogonia, Valtos, Ai Sostis and Sarakinika. There are some wonderful beaches near Parga, where services are offered and they include Lihnos, 2 kilometers south of the town and Baltos, just one kilometer north of it as well as little capes which are well protected by the winds, accessible by boat only, such as Ai Sostis and Pogonia.
