Basketball: Fotsis opts for Armani Jeans Milano

Armani Jeans Milano managed to snatch Greece captain Antonis Fotsis from Barcelona’s grip, as the Panathinaikos forward signed a two-year contract with the Italian side on Friday, Greek and Italian reports suggest.

Pending the official announcement by the Milan team, expected after the weekend, Fotsis will move to Italy for a total of 3 million euros until 2013.

Fotsis had a verbal agreement with Barcelona, but Armani Jeans coach Sergio Scariolo intervened by talking the Greek skipper into moving to Italy instead.

He explained to the 30-year-old player that Armani Jeans will be in the new season's Euroleague through the wild card they have secured and that he considers Fotsis instrumental in the team he is planning to create.

The financial aspect was also satisfactory for Fotsis, who has also played for Real Madrid, Dynamo Moscow and the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA.
