Fantastic World Cup draw for Greece

Greece were blessed with one more fantastic draw in a major competition, as they have avoided teams such as France, Turkey and Russia to face more moderate opponents on their way to reaching the finals of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The national team will play Slovakia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Lithuania, Latvia and Liechtenstein in their qualifying group, according to the draw conducted late on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro.

Greece were seeded as group leaders in one of the qualifying groups as they were among Europe's top nine teams in the FIFA rankings in July.

The winner of the pool goes straight to the finals, while the runner-up must first negotiate a home-and-away play-off.
