Greece to Tax Establishments That Allow Smoking

Greece’s government plans to modify the country’s anti-smoking law by imposing a tax on establishments that serve mainly alcohol in order to allow customers to smoke, Ta Nea reported, without citing anyone.
The tax, which will help fund hospitals, will be determined by the size of the establishment and businesses that do not pay it will be shut down, the Athens-based daily said.
Smoking will still be prohibited in public areas, restaurants, taverns and banquet halls, the newspaper said.
