Olympiakos scrape through Zalgiris

Olympiakos did it the hard way in Lithuania on Wednesday, but managed to beat Zalgiris Kaunas 71-64 and maintain some hope of finishing top of their pool at the Top-16 of the Euroleague.
The Reds needed victory after losing at home to Fenerbahce a week earlier and nearly blew away a significant lead they had
built during the second period.
Zalgiris, coached by Greek Ilias Zouros, led 16-11 at the start but Olympiakos responded with 16 unanswered points to lead 27-16 thanks to their ultra-tight defence.
The Greeks carried on with an impressive showing in the second and third period and led by 24 points (50-26) at the 24th minute, which was when Zalgiris started their fight-back.
The hosts shut out the Reds and started scoring, boosted by their fans, to take the difference to just three points 30 seconds from time (67-64).
Eventually Olympiakos got four more points from Milos Teodosic and Jamon Lucas to win the game by seven.
Vassilis Spanoulis was the top scorer for Olympiakos with 17 points. Teodosic had 13.
