Greek betting company OPAP's (OPAr.AT) sales agents postponed a strike initially scheduled for Friday and Saturday after the government called for a meeting to discuss their demands, their union said.
OPAP, 34 percent owned by the state, has a monopoly on sports betting and lotteries in Greece until 2020.
Its 5,300 agents, who have exclusive rights to sell the company's products, had called a two-day strike to protest at the way they are taxed.
"The union received an invitation by the deputy finance minister for a meeting to solve the issue," the agents' union said in a statement published on its website.
The union said its board will meet on Jan. 12 to decide whether the agents will walk off their jobs on Jan. 14 and 15.
They have held several strikes since May over austerity measures, hitting OPAP sales already feeling the impact of recession in austerity-hit Greece.
