Romain Gavras Follows Director Father’s Path with Hit “Our Day Will Come”

Kostas Gavras is an eminent film director whose film productions have impressed cinema audience for the past decades.  His son, Romain Gavras is not that well-known yet, but managed to challenge the Greek audience with his thought-provoking film “Our Day Will Come” (“Notre Jour Viendra”).  It is a film about racism, class inequalities and fear.

”Our Day Will Come” was screened at the 51st Thessaloniki Film Festival and was considered as one of its highlights. However, that was not the first time for Romain Gavras to challenge the audience, since he had recently directed M.I.A ‘s provocative videoclip “Born Free”.  “Our Day Will Come” is a sharp political allegory on the immigration policy applied by Sarkozy and the Parisian suburbs. Not quite a genre film, not quite an arthouse film, “Our Day Will Come” is a powerful hybrid with a unique, sharply focused eye and a restlessly misanthropic sense of creativity
Romain Gavras was born in Athens but grew up in Paris. He has directed numerous videoclip.  “Our Day Will Come” is his feature film directorial debut.
