ASE opening: Decline

Equity prices were declining at the opening of trade on Monday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index down 0.75 percent, standing at 1,649.20 points at 11:30 am, and turnover at 30.925 million euros.

Individual sector indices were moving mostly downward, with the biggest gains
in Mass Media, up 2.43 percent; Commerce, up 1.83 percent; and Chemicals, up 1.82 percent.

    The biggest losses were in Banks, down 1.89 percent; and Travel & Recreation, down 1.28 percent.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 1.35 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.45 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was down 0.47 percent.

    Of the stocks traded, 30 were up, 52 were down, and 17 were unchanged.
