Cabinet to discuss tax bill

The cabinet meets on Thursday, chaired by prime minister George Papandreou, to discuss a series of draft laws, including two crucial bills for clamping down on tax evasion and on amending the law on ministerial accountability.

Immediately after the cabinet meeting, Papandreou will set off on a two-day tour of Thrace prefecture, with Samothrace as the first destination.

The draft legislation to be discussed includes a finance ministry bill on stamping out tax evasion and restructuring the tax services and two justice ministry bills on amending the law on the penal accountability of ministers and on combating specific forms and manifestations of racism and xenophobia via criminal law.

Culture and tourism minister Pavlos Geroulanos will also unveil to the cabinet a pilot program for upgrading archaeological sites and museums.
