A makeshift explosive device went off in the early hours of Saturday within premises used as a meeting place by the student organisation 'Sfendona' in Thessaloniki. The blast caused damage to the
entrance of the venue, nearby shop fronts and parked cars.An inquiry has been launced by the counter-terrorism service, which said the explosion was caused by a pipe stuffed with gunpowder set off by a slow-burning fuse. They also noted that this was the second time the specific venue has become a target since 2009, when a similar explosive device was planted in the entrance.
