The Athens Concert Hall (Megaron) will organise an international conference and two nights of poetry poetry and music in order to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nobel laureate poet Odysseas Elytis. The events have been organised in collaboration with the late poet's partner, Ioulita Iliopoulou.
The plans were unveiled during a press conference given by the president of the concert hall, Ioannis Manos, on Wednesday.
The year 2011 has been declared 'Elytis Year' by Greece's culture and tourism ministry, while the concert hall is just one of several foundations planning tributes to the noted 20th century poet.
