ASE opening: Big rise

Equity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Monday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), influenced by positive climates on the European markets, with the basic share price index up 2.09 percent, standing at 1,627.08 points at 11:00 am, and turnover at 20.8 million euros.

    Individual sector indices were moving upward across the board, with the biggest gains in Telecoms, up 8.47 percent; Food & Beverage, up 2.01 percent; and Banks, up 1.97 percent.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 2.30 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 1.39 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 1.01 percent.

    Of the stocks traded, 64 were up, 14 were down, and 16 were unchanged.
