The drafts of three documents on bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece have been prepared. They are planned to be signed during the forthcoming official visit of Greek President Karolos Papoulias to Azerbaijan, the diplomatic sources told Trend.
President Papoulias's visit to Azerbaijan is scheduled for April 4-6.
The sides are expected to sign a three year cooperation program in science, education and culture, the agreement on cooperation in environmental protection and maritime transport.
The issues of further strengthening the bilateral cooperation in political, investment, economic, humanitarian and energy sectors will be discussed during the Greek President's visit, Azerbaijani ambassador to Greece Rahman Mustafayev told Trend.
"It deals not only with the opportunities of Azerbaijani natural gas supplies to the Greek market through a direct contract between SOCAR and its Greek partner (both parties are interested in it), but also the cooperation in the production of alternative energy," the diplomat said. By the way, Greek industrial and consulting companies are interested in cooperation in this area, considering our country as an attractive and reliable partner."
According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee, the volume of trade between the two countries amounted to $267.1 million in 2010.
