Greek tanker crew repels pirate attack

Officials say a Greek-flagged oil tanker has successfully repelled a pirate attack in the Indian Ocean.

A Merchant Marine Ministry statement says eight armed men in a 30-meter fishing boat attacked the ship with guns and rocket propelled grenades, some 300 miles east of Oman.

None of the 27 people on the tanker were injured.

The ministry said the empty tanker had departed from the Suez and was continuing its course for India.
