Transparency watchdog: corruption falls in Greece

A global watchdog says incidents of corruption in Greece
fell last year for the first time.
A Transparency International survey released Tuesday showed corruption cost Greece 532 million euros last year, down from an estimated 787 million euro in 2009.
It said the percentage of incidents of corruption in the public and private sector fell to 10.4 percent in 2010 from 13.4 percent the previous year. Hospitals and tax offices remain top of the list of most corrupt public sector institutions.
The survey was conducted by the Public Issue polling company with a sample of 6,114 people interviewed from July to December. It had a margin of error of 1.3 percentage points.
