Women's basketball: Athinaikos miss out on Eurocup final

The women's team of Athinaikos will not be able to defend their title in the Eurocup as they got eliminated in the semifinal to Israel's Elitzur Ramla on Thursday.
The Greek champions won 88-81 in the second leg at home, but had lost by 15 points in Israel and crashed out.
Athinaikos had Katerina Zohnová score 18 points and Toula Kalentzou add another 16, but the Vyron side could never get anywhere near the 15-point margin it had to cover in order to face France's Arras in the final. They only got as far as eight points ahead.
However, the run to the semifinals the season after winning the trophy consolidates Athinaikos in the elite of the women's game in Europe.
