the Challenge Cup and were eliminated, but the worst came after the final whistle as fans stormed the court and attacked the visiting players at the court of Nea Filadelphia.
Partizan were always the favourites in this quarterfinal having won 28-22 in the first leg, and won the second one, too, with a 24-23 score in Greece.
Yet AEK will now be in trouble with the European federation after their supporters’ action.
AEK fans threw coins, lighters as well as a fire extinguisher, they tried to enter the court at the end of the first half and eventually attacked the Partizan players at full time.
Fears now are raised about the league decider with PAOK next month, given the history of clashes between the club’s fans in handball, after last year’s cup semifinal at Lamia.
