The emergency landing of the flaming Saudi Arabian Airlines aircraft was completed without problems a few minutes ago in Eleftherios Venizelos. The operator reported that a fire broke out in the luggage compartment while the plane was flying over the island of Kythira, on route from the US to S. Arabia. The Athens airport officials and the Greek Air Force were immediately mobilized to address the incident. Two Mirage fighters escorted the aircraft, which had 240 passengers on board, until its landing at Eleftherios Venizelos.
