Prosecutor drops Beos graft probe

The prosecutor who deals with football-related matters ruled on Monday that an alleged corruption scandal - dubbed Calciopoulos by some journalists - which centered around Olympiakos Volou chairman Achilleas Beos cannot be investigated any further because his accusers were too slow in making their allegations.
Prosecutor Andreas Fakos, who operates under the auspices of the Hellenic Football Federation, said complaints that Beos had attempted to influence referees were not lodged within a month of the alleged offenses taking place, as soccer's disciplinary rules demand.
Lawyer Alexis Kougias, who submitted two CDs to Fakos allegedly containing recordings of Beos talking about blackmailing referee Giorgos Daloukas, made his complaint on March 9 but the incident is supposed to have taken place on September 11 last year.
As a result, Fakos will not investigate the matter any further.
