Six venues, 130 cultural groups, 15 NGOs, 82 volunteers, 1 double-decker bus, 21 museums and 1 bicycle tour:
Athens Fringe Festival 2011, the Greek capital's annual international arts festival, is taking place on June 20-26, at the City of AthensTechnopolis cultural centre and other locations around the city.
In its third edition this year, the Festival, based on the concept Smile in the mind, is organized by Synthesis Media Company in collaboration with the renowned Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the biggest off-Festival on the planet.
Adopting the successful Fringe format, the Festival aims to present the work of young, upcoming Greek and European artists representing all art forms - from music and dance to theater, literature, and installations.
A novelty this year will be a double-decker bus that will take artists to neighbourhoods around Athens, for impromptu street performances, bringing thus the Festival closer to a wider audience.
