Building activity slumps in February




















Building activity in Greece, n volume, slumped by 38.3 percent in February this year compared with the same month in 2010, according to the independent Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) in a building activity survey released on Friday. 
 
According to provisional data published by the Hellenic Statistical Authority, in February 2011 the total Building Activity (private-public), in the whole country - which is calculated on the basis of the number of issued building permits - amounted to 2,166. This figure corresponds to 387.7 thousand m2 of surface and 1,449.8 thousand m3 of volume, reflecting respectively a 37.5 percent  decrease in the number of building permits, a 38.9 percent decrease in surface and a 38.3 percent decrease in volume, compared to the same month of 2010.
