Europe needs a quick deal to resolve Greece's debt crisis, European Central Bank Governing Council member Ewald Nowotny said, adding he was viewing with some concern a government shakeup in Athens.
Nowotny declined to comment on the exact status on talks to line up the latest international rescue package for Greece but added at a news conference on Friday:
"What is certainly true is that we need a quick solution. The longer the uncertainty and lack of clarity remains, the more the economic uncertainty."
He said a government shakeup that changed finance ministers in Athens was an indication of the enormous domestic policy problems of implementing a tough austerity plan.
