Family basket of average Greek household costs 3.3 percent more

















The family basket of an average Greek household amounted to 2312.26 euros in May 2011 compared to May 2010, when it cost 2238.62 euros. According to a report by the Greek Consumers Centre (Elkeka), the data reveal an increase of 73.64 euros, meaning 3.3 percent. 
 
According to the report, the biggest increase appeared in housing with nine percent, followed by transport with six percent, foodstuffs and non-alcoholic drinks with 3.5, alcoholic drinks and tobacco 3.3, clothing and footwear three, communications 2.3, hotels, cafes and restaurants 1.1, durable goods, household items and services one, while health shows a decrease of one percent.
