Waterpolo: Olympiakos win another Greek Cup

Olympiakos won their 10th Greek cup in the last 11 years and their 14th overall after beating Panionios in the final on Kalymnos on Saturday.

The Reds were dominant throughout the final and won 10-8 to seal their domestic superiority. They even led by four goals (8-4 and 10-6) before relaxing in the end.

Panionios, who only led at 2-1, have complaints from the referees, but were in fact outclassed by Olympiakos. “They did not need the referees’ assistance,” said Panionios’s Costas Kokkinakis.

This was the fourth consecutive season that Panionios are the losing cup finalists.

Olympiakos’s Tasos Schizas stated that “we, the players have done our duty, now it is up to the board to do theirs,” referring to the club’s financial problems.

In the semifinals on Friday Olympiakos had beaten Panathinaikos and Panionios had eliminated Chios.
