Greece greenlights agency for hydrocarbon exploration
The Greek Cabinet has given the green light for the creation of an agency for the exploitation of hydrocarbons, including in the Ionian Sea and south of the island of Crete.
The creation of the agency is an important first step, Greece's Deputy Environment, Energy and Climate Change Minister Yiannis Maniatis told New Europe on 7 July on the sidelines of an energy investment conference in Athens. “First we will carry out the seismic exploration,” he said. “There is significant interest from companies around the world and that is very encouraging,” Maniatis said.
