An opinion poll carried out by the Kappa Research company for the Sunday newspaper "Vima tis Kyriakis" gives the main opposition New Democracy party a 1.3 percent lead over the ruling Pasok party.
According to the poll:
New Democracy receives 17.8% of respondents' preferences
Ruling Pasok party 16.5%
Communist Party of Greece (KKE) 7.5%
Popular Orthodox Rally (Laos) 5.7%
Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) 3.6%
Democratic Left 3.1%
Panhellenic Citizens Chariot 3.1%
Democratic Alliance 2.8%
Ecologists Greens 2.2%
Moreover, 67.6% favour early elections if the government fails to achieve its targets by September.
