Lazaros Papadopoulos signs for Olympiakos

Olympiakos announced on Tuesday the acquisition of former Greece centre Lazaros Papadopoulos for the new season.

The 31-year-old player is joining Dusan Ivkovic for the second time in his career, after the Olympiakos coach had "Lazos" at his disposal when he sat at the Dynamo Moscow bench.

"The coach was one of the basic reasons I have come to the team," stated Papadopoulos to the club's website.

"When I played abroad everyone asked me about the Olympiakos vs Panathinaikos derbies. I have missed the tension of the derbies and I look forward to experiencing it again," he added.

Papadopoulos has played for Panathinaikos for two years. He has also starred for Iraklis, Real Madrid, Fortitudo Bologna, PAOK and Khimki.

Meanwhile Maroussi announced on Monday the hiring of Nikos Linardos. The 48-year-old Greek coach will sit on the club's bench for the second time in his career, after 2001.
