Super League Results
PAOK have gone two points clear at the top of the Super League after a convincing 3-0 win over rivals AEK in Thessaloniki on Sunday.All the goals came in the first half. Vierinha opened the scoring for PAOK after just 16 minutes. Striker Stefanos Athanasiadis made it 2-0 after 37 minutes and fellow forward Dimitris Salpigidis grabbed the third on the stroke of half time.
Stunned AEK were not able to respond in the second half and the win means PAOK have nine points from four games and have moved ahead of Panathinaikos, who have seven points.
The Greens were not in action as their game as well as that of Aris have not yet been scheduled due to legal wrangles following the investigation into match fixing that has affected the start of the season. The two sides were originally scheduled to face relegated Olympiakos Volou and Kavala.
Champions Olympiakos, who are due to face Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday, got their second consecutive win of the season. The Reds beat Ergotelis 3-2 on Crete on Saturday.
Kevin Mirallas, David Fuster with a penalty and on-loan Spanish defender Ivan Marcano got the goals for the Piraeus Club. Diego Romano scored a brace for the home side.
Panionios continued their good start to the season with a 3-0 win away to Kerkyra. Njazi Kuqi scored twice for the visitors and Fanouris Goundoulakis wrapped up the win.
The Athens side has seven points from four games, while Kerkyra only has one.
Xanthi beat OFI 3-1 at home for their first win of the season. Thodoris Vasilakakis gave the home side the lead in the first half.
Michal Stasiak made it 2-0 early in the second half but Zeljko Kalajdzic pulled one back from the penalty spot on 65 minutes. Dimitris Souanis secure the three points in the final minute. OFI remain on one point after two games.
Newly promoted Panetolikos were involved in an exciting 2-2 home draw with PAS Yiannina.
Giorgos Theodoridis opened the scoring with a penalty on 25 minutes but Ibrahima Bakayoko responded five minutes later to make it 1-1. Tomas De Vincenti made it 2-1 to the visitors in the 35th minute but Henri Camara responded two minutes later.
To cap a frantic first half, Brazilian defender Andre Rocha was sent off in the 40th minute for Panetolikos. But the home side held on for the point.
Also on Sunday, Asteras Tripolis were held to a 0-0 home draw by Atromitos. Although the game did not have any goals, the referee produced 11 yellow cards.
