Boa Morte and Greek football's 'shame'

Luis Boa Morte is yet to kick a ball in anger in Greece as his club, Larissa, remains in limbo (between the first and the second division), and on Monday he expressed his disappointment about the situation in this country's game.

In an interview to an Athens radio station the Portuguese striker says the situation is a "shame" but adds that he is absolutely satisfied with his presence at Larissa.

His club was relegated last season from the Super League, but is trying to get reinstated through replacing disgraced Olympiakos Volou and Kavala that got relegated for match-fixing. Larissa's and Panserraikos's case is still pending in sports justice.

"I can't wait for the games to begin It is a shame that we do not know when, where and in which division we will play. We are ready to play in the Super League, we have a good enough team to compete, but unfortunately we know nothing yet," said Boa Morte on Novaspor FM.

"I have come from England to play football, but... I had never seen a thing like that before in my career. It probably has not happened before anywhere that in mid-October a team does not know where it will be playing.

"I am happy with everything in Larissa; the city, the people's passion, the club's organization. But at some point we also need to start playing some football. We have been training well, but we are now close to completing three months of preseason. When do we get to play football? A football player has to play football. It's October and we still do not know," said the former Arsenal, Southampton, Fulham and West Ham star.
