He came from Greece's political wilderness – yet for a few days in June Alexis Tsipras held the future of the euro
in his hands. Six months on, the fast-talking firebrand who took the
world by storm in the runup to the Greek elections may no longer be in
the spotlight, but he has not faded into history. "We may have narrowly
lost the battle," Tsipras says of the failure of his radical left Syriza
party to clinch power. "But we have not lost the war."
