German journalist arrested in Greece

A German journalist has been arrested in north-eastern Greece for taking photographs at a military area.
The 46-year-old German was arrested Friday morning in the border region Kastaneon-Nea Vyssa, by police officers of the Department of Border Guard in Orestiada.
The journalist was driving through a military area and was taking pictures from his car.

Greek media report that the man was in the area to take pictures of the sight where the fence is to be built at the borders to Turkey in order to combat illegal immigration.
His camera has been confiscated and he was taken to the prosecutor. Police said the man had failed to obtain the necessary permission by the Greek Authorities. It is fobidden to take pictures of military areas.
The name or the media organisation of the German journalist have not been made public.
