Olympiakos will have to
wait until next Sunday for a chance to win the Super League after being beaten 2-1 at PAOK on Sunday.A win in Thessaloniki would have given the Reds their 13th title in 15 years but a spirited performance from PAOK means they might clinch the league in front of their own fans instead.
It all started well for Olympiakos as Raffik Djebbour gave them the lead after 12 minutes. But PAOK equalised on the stroke of half time when Vassilis Koutsianikoulis profited from some sloppy play by goalkeeper Urko Pardo.
PAOK were the better team in the second half and got the winning goal in 72ndminute when Victor Vitolo scored a penalty after Adelino Vierinha was brought down in the box.
Despite the defeat, the Reds have 64 points from 26 games and are 10 points clear of second-placed Panathinaikos, who beat Iraklis 3-1 on Saturday.
AEK moved five points clear of Kavala in third place with a 1-0 win over the club from northern Greece.
In a game that was short of entertainment, substitute Nacho Scocco scored the winning goal two minutes from full time.
Kavala had been playing with 10 men from the 54th minute when Horacio Cardozo was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
AEK now have 43 points. Kavala are on 38.
What the game at the Olympic Stadium lacked in terms of excitement was more than made up for by the entertainment on Corfu, where Aris came from behind to beat local side Kerkyra 4-3.
Goran Maznov had given the home side the lead after 7 minutes before Ricard Faty equalized 20 minutes later. Then, Dimitris Grammozis hit back for the home side in the 33rd minute.
But the game turned in an 11-minute period in the second half during which Aris scored three times. Nikos Lazaridis made it 2-2 in the 66th minute, then Nery Castillo scored his first since returning to Greek football earlier this month and Sergio Koke made it 4-2.
Kerkyra pulled one back through Brazilian Gustavo Veronesi in the 78th minute to set up a thrilling finish. But the home side's hopes of equalizing were scuppered when Grammozis was send of four minutes later for picking up a second yellow.
Aris are in seventh place with 33 points, Kerkyra are 11th with 30.
There was also great entertainment at the New Smyrni Stadium, where the relegation six-pointer between Panionios and Larissa ended 3-3.
The home side opened the scoring when Giorgos Galitsios, a former Larissa player, headed in from a free kick in the 22nd minute.
On loan Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou made it 2-0 on 32 minutes from the penalty spot.
Former Newcastle defender Nikos Dabizas got Larissa back into the game just after the hour-mark with a header but Panionios complained that there had been a handball earlier.
Panionios restored their two-goal lead in the 78th minute when Bosko Balaban scored straight from a free kick.
Six minutes later, Larissa were awarded a penalty, which Tumer Metin struck successfully to make it 3-2.
Dabizas equalized in the 86th minute with another header but promptly received a second yellow card for swearing at the crowd.
Larissa issued a statement after the game saying Dabizas had been responding to abuse from Olympiakos Volou chairman Achilleas Beos, a former Panionios owner, who was in the crowd.
Beos has made no secret of his desire for local rivals Larissa to be relegated from the Super League.
The result means that Larissa remain second from bottom, five points adrift of safety on 24 points. Panionios have 30 points.
Atromitos are on 29 points after drawing 1-1 at Ergotelis. Diego Romano had given the home side the lead just before half time but Ilias Anastasakos equalized in the 69th minute.
The draw leaves Ergotelis in 8th place on 32 points.
